HBURG Student Ministry

The student ministry of Harrisburg exists to disciple teenagers and assist parents in the same. We use three Biblical themes to anchor our discipleship strategy: Love God, Love People, and Impact Your World. Every year, we focus on one of these themes from August to July and the theme for 2017-2018 is Love God

The Love God emphasis fosters an appropriate sense of dependence. Believers benefit from daily acknowledging the giver of all good things, the sustainer of existence, and author of the Holy Bible. A daily declaration of God's supremacy in our lives helps us keep a proper prospective on our daily walk.

We want the common mantra of this emphasis to be, "I'm not God!" It should seem obvious, yet many live their lives attempting to carry God-sized burdens, while some try to take God's place of worship in their own lives or the lives of others. Over all, acknowledging God as God is a freeing concept sure to enlighten and empower believers young and old.

Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen"


The Why always creates a pause in my thought process because I want to be clear, concise, and correct. We tend to focus on the what and how and even the when or who, when the why is so critical. Declaring our "why" puts us at risk because we know some of our activities do not fit perfectly with our "why". 

So Why do we do what we do? We love God and we want others to know His love.

We are gifted to lead and communicate truth to the newest generation of leaders - our teens, so we do. We do what we do with the expectation teens and their families grow in wisdom and truth to fulfill their role on earth as the creators representatives. Jesus Christ makes all this and more possible - Why? Because he loves us.

Our camps, retreats, disciple now's; Sunday school, Midweek, Grow Groups; conversations, text, all grow out of the why.
